Perm athlete will present Russia on the Universiade

A unique athlete will present Perm Krai on the Universiade -2013 in Kazan. Alena Amaeva, Perm State University student, holds certificate of mastery in both unarmed self-defense and belt fighting. It is the first time belt fighting is included in the Universiade program. Alena Amaeva is the first Perm Krai student to take part in such a high-level sport event in belt fighting.

“It’s in my genes, I suppose. We take after our father. My sister, brother and I were gunning for him at the belt fighting competitions as kids. I remember listening to his stories about catch-style and unarmed self-defense trainings during his army times”, - told Alena Mamaeva.

Alena’s father Ilgiz Amaev has become her belt fighting coacher in 2006, and in 2010 she won Championship of Russia. Alena took a second place in Russia Student Games in 2013 in belt fighting category, and joined Russian Universiade team.

After enrolling at the Perm State University, Universiade-2013 partner, Alena started training with a coach Sergey Durakov. Till that time she has not been leaving winner’s podium of the most prestigious sport events. Three years in a roll (2009-2012) she has been a medalist of the PAR Unarmed Self-Defense Championship. This year she took second place at the Russian Championships among under 23 athletes.
